TAKETE TAKETE - KIDKANEVIL [A] X NURAH [V]

I met Kidkanevil while touring the world as part of M.I.A.’s explosive live show. In 2024, we teamed up for a new audiovisual gaming project, Takete Takete. We premiered it at Cinema City 46 as part of Nurah’s Samandar International Live audiovisual gaming events launch in Bremen, Germany.

Together, we created a library of experimental game levels that are fully playable with playstation controllers and interactive with Kidkanevil’s wide-range of emotive, energy-packed beats and soundscapes, uniting electronic music, live performance, video game culture and cinema.

The incredible lighting and balloon artist Timnotsimon added a physical dimension to the Cinema experience with his vibrant and surreal work.

The result was an exhilarating and emotional (mostly) non-verbal journey and received reactions such as: ”I can’t put it into words…. I felt so much. I was just somewhere else.”

In November 2024, We Launched “Samandar International” collective along with Michael Häßler and Rui Namagoa  through a live audio-visual gaming event series at Cinema City 46, supported by Nordmedia: CLOSEUP Bremen.

We presented a generative, audio-visual live performance program with four new live shows. We also partnered to launch the Network of Creatives platform for local and international artists to exchange ideas and network.

Balloon sculpture and lighting wonder Timnotsimon joined us in Bremen to transform City 46 with his crazy designs inspired by the themes of life and death.

In 2018, I was commissioned to create visuals for artist M.I.A.’s live show. Since then, she has invited me to CREATE VISUALS, LOGOS AND GRAPHICS FOR HER VARIOUS PROJECTS INCLUDING our 1-on-1 collaboration during worldwide lockdowns for her audiovisual book/podcast OHMNI.

Since 2022, I JOIN HER WORLDWIDE TO CREATE SHOWS PERFORM LIVE WITH HER AND TO ADVISE AND COORDINATE HER SUPER-DYNAMIC LIVE SHOWS (LIGHTS, LASERS, CONFETTI, CAMERAS,…) AS PART OF HER small CORE TEAM.

She is definitely my MOST BELOVED ARTISTIC COLLABORATOR AND has deeply INFLUENCED MY PRACTICE.

Mapping Possibilities is an audio-visual collective project founded by Nurah Farahat, Rami Abadir and Islam Shabana which focuses on initiating and facilitating new audio-visual collaborations through collective experience and knowledge sharing culminating into new audio-visual performances between 30 mins to 1 hour each. In this collective, visual artists focus on generative and interactive real-time visual experimentation using coding, open source programming platforms, alongside more traditional media such as video and 3D animation. While sound artists take a more sound-oriented approach, featuring non-dance electronic music (i.e. abstract, noise, drone, ambient, glitch, IDM, experimental, . . . etc.).
